Noble Street students are challenged academically and socially as preparation for college entrance. Students must pass 100% of their classes to be promoted to the next grade, and a strict uniform code is observed. There are also many opportunities for students maintaining a minimum GPA to participate in sports and other activities. The reward for success is great: 100% of seniors in the class of 2009 were accepted to at least one college, and 95% of those are pursuing post-secondary education. Noble Street believes that the involvement and support of parents/guardians is essential to this success.
Noble places great importance on partnering with parents/guardians to prepare students and set examples of responsibility and citizenship. Noble invites parents/guardians to get involved with the school and familiarize themselves with its policies and procedures. As an educational community, everyone involved can help students become better individuals.
It is expected that parents of Noble Street students will:
- Attend parent/student/teacher conferences at the end of each 10-week period, or when asked to do so by a member of the staff.
- Sign the parent/teacher/student compact, pledge to make your child’s academic excellence a primary focus for the school year and support the compact.
- Hold your child accountable to Noble’s expectations, including doing homework every night. Parents/guardians should ask about homework and expect to see students doing it daily.
- Read the weekly newsletter, sign and return it, and expect your child to bring you grades every two weeks. Call the school immediately if you do not see progress reports every two weeks.
- Provide students with a quiet, well-lit place to work.
- Arrange all appointments and vacations to ensure that students do not miss school.
- Respect Noble’s learning/work environment by calling students at school only in the event of an emergency. Be prepared to reveal the nature of the emergency if you expect the student to be removed from class.
- Ensure that students are ready for school each day with clean clothing, books, notebook, assignment book, pen and homework.
